Voices of the Unheard is a documentary that examines the 2020 protests against police brutality, offering an Atlanta-centered perspective. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote, “A riot is the language of the unheard,” the film brings together conflicting voices from across the spectrum. Police officers’ viewpoints collide with those of protestors, while media personalities critique the way news outlets abroad reported the situation. Lawyers reflect on the challenges of fighting a deeply entrenched system, and activists share their struggles for change. The film delves into the complexities of the protests, exploring the causes, impacts, and ongoing fight for justice, while showing how dialogue, despite differences, can lead to meaningful change.

THE MINDS BEHIND THE MATTER

ROWLAND JORDAN

Rowland is a talented filmmaker with a passion for telling stories that can make a difference. Based in Atlanta, he witnessed some of the most intense protest during the 2020 unrest first hand. "I felt like the story needed to be told... and it needed to be told by one of us". Soon after chaos broke out, he grabbed a camera and got to work.

LaMar was inspired to make this documentary after witnessing the 2020 protests in Atlanta and recognizing how deeply they marked our city and our nation’s history. As part of this generation, he feels a responsibility to preserve these voices so future generations understand the struggle and resilience of this moment.
